station sound for BBC radio 3
Producing well-crafted trails to promote a huge variety of programmes on Radio 3 is a real art. Each 40-second miniature has to tempt the listener, bear repeated listening, sound distinctive, convey detailed information and comply with BBC editorial guidelines. A year spent producing station sound presented a new perspective on working with marketing teams, producers, presenters and Radio 3 management. I learnt a lot about communication strategy, scripting and keeping the message simple.
